“Are you still preaching?” is another question that people have asked me since my retirement celebration at First Baptist Church in Silver Grove, KY. Already several opportunities have come my way since we first departed on our new adventure. While we were in North Carolina at the Ridgecrest Conference center I was invited to speak twice at the volunteer chapel service. Every week we would gather for a time of fellowship and encouragement. We would have opportunities to hear from other volunteers about their journey of faith and places where they have served. It was such a gratifying experience for me to have the privilege of sharing from the Word of God.
Sheldon’s Thoughts – October 25
Recently our dear friend and pastor, Bro. Jimmy Williams was shocked to hear that he would have to have open heart surgery. He is doing remarkably well today after experiencing a quadruple bypass. During his recovery time he invited me to preach for him at FBC of Pikeville, TN. He has served this church for almost 25 years. They were a gracious and loving congregation who not only love and honor their Pastor, but were an encouragement to us as I preached for them Sunday morning and Sunday evening.
We Each Wear a Stained Garment of Sin
To Cover our Sin We Put On A Garment of Self-Righteousness
I really enjoyed doing a gospel illustration for the children who were present in church that morning and evening.
By the way, Bro. Jimmy and Joan have a son; Shannon, who is married to our daughter, Sharon.
I do have some future opportunities being scheduled on the calendar, but there are still some dates available. If you have a need, feel free to call us. In answer to your question…. Yes, I am still preaching.
