Will you ever be a Pastor again? This is another one of those interesting questions that I was asked upon my recent retirement. The implication of this question is whether or not I have quit the ministry? The obvious and correct response would be NO.
Of course, I would be open to serving as an interim Pastor or to serve as Pastor of a church again… however, at this point in my life, I am confident that after 50 years of full-time pastoral ministry I am now being called into 50 years of full-time mission service. Obviously, I won’t be around for another 50 years of volunteer mission service, but that doesn’t negate my desire to be and to do what I believe God’s Will is for my life at this particular point of my spiritual journey. Which translates to mean that at this time I am open to being a Pastor again if and when that opportunity arises. You and I who have been called into Ministry know that God’s Will is flexible, fluid and always changing which means I will continue to follow the path He has laid out for me at this present time.
My health is still good, so I keep pressing onward and upward until the day He redirects my ministry or He calls me home.
